Haiti Update

Wescott Williams Operations Manager, Mags Ryan was so inspired by the volunteer work that the Head of our Legacy Programme, John Bickell undertook in Haiti last year, that she has signed up to an intensive stint with the same charity.

Mags flies out to Leogane in Haiti on 10 April 2011, where she will spend three weeks helping to clear rubble, build schools and improve sanitisation on behalf of the charity, All Hands.  Working extremely long hours for six days each week, Mags will be enduring very basic living conditions alongside roughly 100 other volunteers.

She says: "The more I heard from John, the more I wanted to get stuck in and just help out in any way I can. I am really looking forward to seeing first hand how much has been achieved out there, especially on the school building project.  Obviously, I am slightly nervous about the basic conditions and lack of privacy, but other than that very much looking forward to the experience."

Wescott Williams is supporting Mags by granting her a paid sabbatical and meeting all of her travel expenses in line with the company's commitment to giving 10% of its time and 10% of its profits to support organisations working with the most disadvantaged people in the world.

Colin Williams, MD of Wescott Williams says: "We are all so proud of Mags. The not for profit element of our business is very important to us all here and we are delighted to be able to help out in any way we can."

Further information on the charity can be found on www.hands.org.
